convert --to=yaml --indent=2type a query, e.g. $.users[0].name
IDLE

Paste JSON and read it back as YAML, ready for a config file. The conversion runs in your browser and keeps your keys in their original order.
How values are written
Objects and arrays become YAML's indented block style, with two or four spaces per level. Strings stay unquoted when that is safe and get double quotes when YAML would read them as something else: on, yes, null, "30" and dates such as 2026-03-14 stay strings in the output.
Text with line breaks becomes a literal block (|) where that can keep every line exactly as it is. Where it cannot, for example a string with trailing spaces or unusual characters, it is written as a double-quoted string with escapes, so nothing is lost on the way.
Converting part of a document
Type a query on the prompt line, such as .env or $.spec.containers[0], and only that part is converted. Copy the result, or save it as a .yaml file.
Numbers keep their original spelling and long integers keep every digit, so IDs and version numbers come through unchanged. Turn on sort keys if you want a stable order for review.
Questions
Can it convert YAML back to JSON?
Not at the moment. This page goes from JSON to YAML only.
Will the YAML read back as the same data?
That is the aim. Strings that could pass for booleans, null, numbers or dates are quoted, and multi-line text uses a form that keeps its exact contents.
What if my JSON has errors?
The converter needs valid JSON. If yours is broken, the error view shows what is wrong and lists repairs you can apply first.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in this page, and nothing you paste leaves your browser.
